LA Leyenda De Mexicatl
Published in Paperback by Turtle Books (30 September, 2000)
Authors: Jo Harper and Robert Casilla
Average review score:

an audience pleaser
Mexicatl captures his mother's heart and the readers as well. Jo Harper has caught the beauty of a boy's entrance into manhood. The telling of the story is like holding a candle up for children to see the way that common people have become heroes. A story told with symplicity of word and action that makes the reader and listener use their imagination. The illustrations by Robert Casilla are quite beautiful.

The Lab, the Temple, and the Market: Reflections at the Intersection of Science, Religion, and Development

Author: Sharon Harper
Average review score:

Informative and challenging discussions
In The Lab, The Temple, And The Market: Reflections At The Intersection Of Science, Religion, And Development, Sharon Harper has compiled a collections of informative and challenging discussions of development issues and processes within the context of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, and the Baha'i Faith. Each of the contributors is a scientist and a person of faith. They write on how religious belief and personal faith can be both deeply motivational and strikingly fruitful in scientific pursuits. The emphasis is on how their faith brought them a profound understanding of the interconnectedness and compassion, and through that understanding, a wider perspective and a greater sense of personal meaning with respect to the varied scientific researches. The Lab, The Temple, And The Market is enthusiastically recommended reading for academics, religious leaders, and non-specialist general readers with an interest in science and religion.

Last of the Dragon Harpers: Dragon Skies Book 1
Published in Paperback by Writers Club Press (December, 2001)
Author: James Donaldson

Journey Into the Past
While I would recommend reading this book by a fireplace, the pages lit by candle or oil lamp, I realize most will be reading in a more modern environment. Whatever the circumstance I suggest reading this book anyway you can, by any means possible. This is the beginning to a very vivid journey into the past.
Too often this genre lends itself to tedious efforts to impress with misplaced descriptions - this book delivers a refreshing, plausible and imaginative feeling of the time and its people. A reality to a world long past. A tale you can enter without the disruptions that come from lesser author's efforts - this writer managed to avoid such irritations, delivering instead a subtle, inviting progress into an almost forgotten time.
This is, without question, a superior book of type and can hold its own against any book in any category. Here there is intrigue, romance, love, hatred, life and death - all blending into a characters with a realism that is rare and always welcome.
The author has delivered everything in a single book, yet leaves the desire for a second book to continue the experience.
There is also (to me) a surprise ending that makes me wonder the how and where of the second book - a book that will be as eagerly awaited as the first was enjoyed.
To the author - many thanks.

A GEM! A MUST READ BOOK!

She inherited the ranch when the owner died and became an independent woman, managing the ranch just fine until someone started to do all he could to damaged the ranch in order to forced Libby sold her farm to him. At this moment, Remington Walker stepped in, like a knight in shining armor. Remington made her started to remember that she was a woman too who needed to be loved. But it was a no coincidence that the man just showed up at Libby ranch. He was a private detective who needed money badly, that had been hired by Libby's father to find out where his daughter was. He also had a hidden agenda toward Libby's father who destroyed his father years ago. So when love and vengeance collided , what path will Remington choose? Did he dare to confess all to Libby and ask for her understanding and her forgiveness? While Mr. Vanderhoff, Libby's father had hired other detective and had known where she was, and will do absolutely anything to get her back into his possession. A GEM! A MUST READ BOOK! I bought this book from a used book store cause I just need some books to spent the time. It turned out I can't put this book down since I started reading it. A fast pace story with strong characters and believable story line , that will make us fall in love with this book just in second. This was the first of Robin Lee Hatcher book that I read and definitely would not be the last one. Good work, Mrs. Hatcher!

Liberty: A Path to Its Recovery

A SUPERB LOOK LIBERTY AND LIBERTARIANISM
THIS BOOK MORE THAN ANY OTHER BOOK I'VE READ ABOUT LIBERTY GIVES A CLEAR DEFINITION TO WHAT LIBERTY ACCUALLY MEANS. USING EASY TO UNDERSTAND EXAMPLES THE AUTHOR (F.A. HARPER) SHOWS THE THREATS TO LIBERTY,BOTH ECONOMIC AND PERSONAL, AND OFFERS SOLUTIONS TO REVERSING THE TRENDS. THIS BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN 1949 AND ALTHOUGH THE AUTHOR NEVER MENTIONS FDR OR THE NEW DEAL, THIS READER DEFINITELY GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THIS WAS A LIBERTARIAN RESPONSE TO THE SOCIALISM AND COLLECTIVISM THAT WAS PREVALENT AT THE TIME OF PUBLICATION. AFTER READING IT I WAS ASTONISHED TO LEARN THAT THE AUTHOR DR. FLOYD A.HARPER WASNT WIDELY KNOWN IN THE LIBERTARIAN WORLD. O WELL I HOPE HE CATCHES ON.

Life and Work of Susan B Anthony
Published in Hardcover by Ayer Co Pub ()
Author: Ida H. Harper
Average review score:

A Primary Source on the Mother of Us All
It was 1998, the 150th anniversary of the first Women's Rights Convention, and it was difficult, if not impossible, to purchase a biography on the Mother of us all, Susan B. Anthony. What better way to commemorate the anniversary than to put SBA's first biography back in print. The publisher, Ayer, would re-print this 3 volume set if they received 50 orders. So I found 50 people and it's now available. "Life and Work of Susan B. Anthony" is fascinating and so alive - I feel like I'm in the attic with Ayer and Anthony writing it. Many thanks to amazon.com for liberating the order process and providing access to this wonderful primary source.

The light of MY life
Yes. I enjoyed this book very much when I was a teenager.. I'm trying to find a copy of this book.. I would love to read it again.. after all these years.. I've actually read this book 5 times...that's one of the reasons why I rated it 5 stars....There's was just something about it.. that I did'nt want to put it down.. I know that sounds silly for such a small YA book.. but I really did enjoy the book! Thanks Elaine!
